Oh my goodness, I'm so glad your week was busy and eventful! I cannot even begin to tell you enough, this was the best week of my life. I'm in love with missionary life. I'm so so happy here. It's like I recognize life is great and I thank God for it, only for Him to bless me more! I guess you really can never get "even" with Him.
Okay, I tried thinking about when Sister Johnson saw me, but I can't think of when I was in front of the classroom talking before Sunday... But that's funny she saw me! In all honesty, German is a very hard language. I've have a rollercoaster of a time with it. The first couple of days I didn't understand A THING of what my teachers were saying. I was thinking, "am I in the right class? This must be Turkish or something!" Haha.
We already started teaching an investigator on Friday. (Now that I think about it, I think she saw me teaching a lesson outside to our investigator!) It was crazy cool. He was so nice and kind to us with our broken German. What we had planned would probably take 10 minutes had we not discussed it. We walked back to our class proud that we had had probably a 20 minute completely German conversation with him! That wasn't even close at all. We talked with him for over 45 MINUTES! I still can't believe we talked for that long after just 2 days of language instruction.
The turning point was on Saturday, when we taught our investigator for the second time. (Friday went well because Sis. Thorpe and I scripted it out, but Saturday we just made bullet points) BAD IDEA. I was so frustrated at the end of the lesson because I didn't understand anything he said, let alone trying to answer him. It's hard when I know what I want to say but I can't convey it to him! That's when I realized there is no way I can do this by myself. I was not relying on God. You know, since it is the celestial language, He speaks perfect German. I sincerely prayed for who knows how long, and felt a lot of comfort. I was also being way too hard on myself. Did I really expect to be fluent in 3 days?! (Well, yes I did. But that isn't the point anymore)
Okay I'm probably going to be all over in this email so sorry in advance. So when we were unpacking on Wednesday night, Sis. Thorpe brought out this huge, blue, actual alarm clock like you see in the movies! She said it's the only thing she'll wake up to. So I didn't set my alarm because she would set that one for 6:30. The alarm goes off and I get up right away and go to take a shower. On my way out I softly reminded them to get up and then left. I thought it was a bit weird when I walked into the shower room and it was completely empty. I shrugged it off and showered. A good 4 minutes later, I hear someone calling my name. It was my companion! She said, "sister Ingalls! I'm not sure if someone is playing a prank on us but It's 2 in the morning!" I immediately bust up laughing. I didn't know what else do so I just finished my shower! It was hilarious. Nothing like a shower at 2 am to get you ready for a full day here!
Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. I went back to bed (not before setting my own alarm!) and finally fell asleep again. This time, my alarm went off and I got up and immediately got dressed. It was now 6:55 and everyone was still sleeping! I softly said, "sisters! We need to go in 10 minutes!" Sister Brogdon jumped up and looked at her clock. She's like "no, Sister Ingalls. It's 5:55!" I couldn't even believe it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I didn't change the time zone on my tablet, so I was still on MN time. We all ended up getting up and ready.
Ok I'm quickly realizing I don't have a ton of time to email. I'm going to type next time because I'm not as fast with my tablet.
2 more things:
1. We moved into the new classroom buildings. They are BEAUTIFUL. We are truly blessed to be able to learn in them. You honestly feel like you are walking into a temple when you go through the main doors. The pics I'll send are 1. On the terrace on the 2nd floor. We love studying there.
And 2. One of the SMALL pictures in on our floor. Seriously look up pics of the buildings, they are absolutely beautiful, especially the original Nephite painting.

2. Sister Thorpe rolled her ankle on Saturday. BADLY. She's in a boot and being a good sport about it. We call her "einfuß" meaning one foot or "kaputt foot" which is Denglish for broken foot. Haha.
Okay this is terribly unorganized but I got down the majority of what I wanted to write. Just know that I am happy, blessed and working harder than I ever have in my life.
I love you a million hours on the terrace! You are amazing. I will be more organized next week.
With love, Sister Macey Ingalls
P.S. I can look at emails every day, I just can't respond until Wednesday. I love those dear elder letters, keep them coming! Any message whether a sentence or a paragraph during the week would be wonderful!
Here are some extra pictures she sent!
