This week has been such a wild ride! Like really crazy. From getting the surprise call that we were getting brand new companions in 24 hours to getting a completely new area book to having amazing spiritual experiences, I’m uplifted, I’m excited and totally and completely exhausted!😂 I took an hour nap this afternoon and I don’t think my body moved a muscle at all😂😂 I’m feeling good though, and thankfully God gives me strength and we are really taking care of our bodies!
So, rewind to Tuesday. I get to the stake center and all of us German missionaries are excitedly talking about the changes and what’s all going down. It was so fun to see some old friends! I see what people say that mission friends are the best! We then had a meeting where we were introduced to our new companions, and I got Sister Baldock! Oh, my goodness, I LOVE HER SO MUCH! She’s about 10 months out on her mission, from England and legit we are so similar! We have similar teaching styles and we just give each other energy! Not that any other comps weren’t super happy, but we are just like joy and joy together. She is so positive and hardworking even if she’s exhausted and thrown into a new culture and language. We’ve worked so hard this week.
We also put together an Ikea bed that night and it took us just over 3 hours😂 it was not easy to say the least, but we didn’t lose any screws 😎
We had distrikt meeting and interviews on Wednesday, and it was so good to be with president! I love that man, and he has given me so much strength and advice that has changed the course of my mission multiple times. He is just so calm and willing to bless us missionaries, I sustain him with my whole heart.
Other than that, this week has been cool but hard. So now that we have 2 sister programs in our area (now 3 programs including the elders!) we had to split our area book. Which actually meant that I got a brand new area book with nobody in it but the members. Then we prayerfully considered who would teach which of the 3 women and decided that we would take Sabrina. The other sisters have Melica and Katheryn. It was very hard (actually still hard!) That we really don’t have much to go off of and need to start finding more people to teach. I think this will be good though, because we planned on really focusing on the members and part member families. Of course, in the other times we’ve been finding, but this is a good thing. It’s just hard because the first lesson I wasn’t there for with Melica, she told the sisters she wanted to be baptized this month and they set a date! It was a huge miracle! I was just so sad that I missed that, but I’m happy that she’s choosing this path and know the sisters will prepare her. It’s really been working me though, praying for patience and charity, choosing not to be upset with the situation because it’s so weird being in an area where I just suddenly have just 1 person and some contacts! All will be well though.
Okay this is super weird, but the new Turkish Elder in Neukölln is Conner Burton’s doppelganger. Kid you not, looks like him, acted like him (like the first day then I realized, yeah, they are different) it’s just the weirdest thing! Maybe you’ll see what I mean when I send the soccer photos from today.
I’m glad you had such a good time in Utah! That skirt Emily wore was adorable! She’s just adorable too. I’m excited to see some of the pictures that you got professionally done!
I love all of the stories about Bri! I really think I approve! Logan has good taste and she made them candy necklaces (for graduation) so that’s a huge win. Do her and Emily get along well or even know each other? Okay, and IF Logan and Bri got married, do they have a time they would want to be married in? C’mon don’t wait forever, I need sisters!
That’s cute you were going to go to the Hansens. I think they would’ve liked that! I definitely can’t wait to meet the family too, but I agree, the thought is what counted :)
I like your thoughts on women being super spiritual. I agree. There is a reason we say as young women "we are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us and we love him!" Because He does love us and gives us His special talents and loves to show that love to everyone! I’ve developed a really, really great love for others on my mission, and know its pure Christlike love. I just love people because they are who they are, not because I can benefit from them! I just really want people to find joy in life.
Hahaha I can agree with that super awkward “date”. I probs shouldn’t have tried to drive with you instead of him while taking pictures...😂😂 ohhh well, I’m not perfect. I like getting the family calendar updates! I really hold it dear to my heart that I can also know the month and year when the sprinkler system was installed! Haha you are so funny!
To answer your fitness question, it’s going awesome!! We go outside to a park and run and do strength training every day! I feel like I’m getting some muscles back that I lost this winter! And this morning we played soccer with all of the Neukölln missionaries! Well, the other sisters just came and studied scriptures, so it was us and the Elders that actually played. We think we’re going to make that a pday tradition! It was so fun!! We were all so sweaty and I WON! There were 4 goals and we played every man for himself, I was mostly out of breath from laughing it was so funny! Plus, Sister Baldock and I realize that we are going to need some major miracles this transfer, so we decided to give up chocolate for the whole transfer. So far so good and I notice it makes a difference for me, especially with my skin! It’s so much easier when you have a reason for doing it (like people’s salvation?!) Get moving and find a reason to! :)
Well, Momma, I’m exhausted and need a tiny break. Sorry if I didn’t answer all of your questions, but I’m so excited to skype you and dad next week! I’ll do it in the church and that pretty good wifi. 7:45 it is! I’m so excited to see your smiling faces! You are the joy of my life and I’m so grateful for eternity with my wonderful family.
