Preparing to Come Home - Nov 5

Hey Mom!!
I'm writing you early this week because we are going on an adventure to Hof this afternoon! We are on the hunt for dirndls, and since they are a southern german thing, Hof is apparently our best shot and we pin pointed 3 places where we think we can get them. Wish us luck!!

We got a call a couple of nights ago from the Dresden sisters aka Sister Hansen and Sister Grisham!!! Imagine the most stereotypical sister reunion, multiply that by ten and I think you could guess our conversation! Haha they called with a referral of some girls in Hof that want to learn English. We got in contact with them and set up an appointment tonight, so it made sense to spend some pday time in Hof. I'm really exciting to meet them, they are related to a less active member in Dresden so maybe a good gospel conversation will come out of it. Today is going to be a great day!!

P.S. I did comment on your pictures saying that I loved them all, it was in a separate email responding to the picture of Logan and Bri in front of the huge tree :) You sent awesome pictures they totally made my day!

Oh yes, that red dress that matched the other sisters was Sister Myers dress! I had to borrow clothes all weekend because we got stuck in Leipzig. It was reaaaaally fun wearing something different!

I would LOOOOOVE to help Caitlin! Yes yes yes yes yes sign me up! I would totally love a job and something to do. Cleaning other peoples houses is fun too, I'd really love to help! Let her know I would love to :) Thank you, this is an answer to prayers!

Was it fun to have Logan and Brianne at home? They seemed to have loads of fun! Ewww a chocolate covered marshmallow? That doesn't sound good... American chocolate just doesn't sound good! Every time we go grocery shopping I look for what chocolate is on sale so I can have a little stock to bring home. Maybe I will share it with everyone ;-) But do you think they will get engaged soon? Did they talk about it at all? That's pretty exciting!

Honestly the busier the better, I'd love to help with Hannah's wedding! Plus we were like best friends as little kids, so I totally owe her! When is her wedding? Will we be able to go? Count me in to help with anything you need, I'd really love to. Just ONE disclaimer though, this better not bring up the marriage talk too quickly!! ;) Everyone says that when you get home your family is just like alright when are you getting married hahahahahah oh boy I am not ready for that one just yet. Haha I'm so excited, we had fun doing Dallin and Emily's wedding together (I mean, you did it and I like to think I tried to be a bit of a moral support!) so this would be loads of fun. Just give Dad and me a ladder, lights and a couple hours and we got it! I can't imagine trying on my wedding dress just a couple days before my wedding though... But honestly Hannah would look cute in anything!

I get what you mean. The time goes fast, like this week just flew by! But when I think about seeing the family in two weeks it still seems like a really long time. I don't let myself think about it too much and Maddie gave me some advice to just stay as busy as possible and work hard. I even started studying at 9 pm when we have free time until we go to bed! I guess I've been doing that all transfer, but it's really helped me to not drift my concentration. We went on exchange with our Sister Training Leaders this week, and seriously God gave me them! It's nice being on the other side of that exchange for a change, as if was focused on helping me! It was slightly weird, but I was super grateful. I was on exchange with the Sister Bell, she is the BEST! We had a legit heart to heart and I love her a lot. Shes had a lot of hard times in her life and practically no female support, and I was just like I will pick up Sister Myers (her companion) and drive up to Logan anytime. I really really meant it. The friends we make as missionaries are just such close relationships, I'm so incredibly grateful for the friends I've made on my mission. But the story I was actually trying to get at was what happened at night. Sister Myers goes home 4 weeks after me, and it was really stressing her out. Her awesome comp and her ended up putting together a plan to keep her calm and prepare her to come home. I really didn't feel stressed about coming home but I was thinking, wow making a plan would really help me! I just need to squeeze what she's doing in 7 weeks into 3 weeks! I cut out some things and made it personal for me, and it helped me feel really good! It's mostly just preparing so that when I get home I'm not just like uhhhhh what do I do? So I have plans to make a scripture study plan, language study plan, technology safeguards, boy safeguards (hey, you gotta be safe!), writing a letter to myself and making a to do list of people I want to visit, etc. So far I've made my scripture study plan and my technology standards, that was really nice! But this was all by divine design, because the stressors came yesterday. The ward is exciting for me and wants to let me have alllllllll of the involvement I can get! So next Sunday I'm giving a talk and doing a music number with a few members, then for my last Sunday they asked me to give the entire Relief Society lesson! And on top of that, I'm in charge of the last district meeting lesson! Aghhh! So luckily I put things on a calendar so I know when I need to prepare things and not save everything for the last couple of days. I'm not even going to get a chance to think about home using all of my free time to prepare these things! It'll be really fun and its such a blessing. So I think the time will go fast on my end, we just gotta stay busy!

That makes sense why the Crocketts live in Minnesota, he has family there! I'm really excited to meet them, you talk so highly of them.

Dang you are getting lots of decorating projects right in the holidays! I'm good helping as much as I can and you want me too. I've been practicing my creative skills so maybe I have a little more to give for helping with the ward Christmas party! I'm just imagining a billion little kids running around the gym screaming hahah just put some wings on them and we have our entertainment for the night!

Get your flu shot! I had to get mine and the lady made all of our arms hurt so bad. It's cuz she sneak attacked us. Plus everyone got a bag of vitamins as a reward but I didn't get them because I'm going home! Wah!! Luckily they told me that afterward otherwise I may not have so willingly let her stab me. I hope Nash doesn't get you sick! Even if he does, 2 weeks is still a good amount of time to get better. I pray you don't though!

Woahh big question, what am I doing and what do I still want to accomplish. This week we have appointments set up where the members have already agreed to come with! That is the hardest part about this area is getting joint teaches. It's super frustrating because we are just here to help them. Things are working out though. This will be the first week that we get to stay in our area the whole week and not travel around like crazy. It takes a lot out of you. Our mission president asked us to teach 3 lessons to members every week, whether they are less active, completely inactive or even if they are regular church attenders. Our ward needs strengthening spiritually, so it will be very good. It was inspired. So we have 1 lesson with a struggling member set up and then some service for some active members set up for the week. We are going to use the blank time we have this week to go contact people in our member list and invite them back to church and to meet with us. I was promised in my blessing from president that I'm here to help somebody that would otherwise waver if I weren't here, so I need to work as hard as I can to find them and help them! I think there have been some members we have already helped, even just yesterday. But that doesn't mean there aren't more.

Goals though are to prepare myself to take what I have learned with me. I'm also in Moroni 7 so I'll finish the Book of Mormon tomorrow and start it again! I also have some language goals that I'm on track to finish before the great and final day. I'm motivated don't worry! Everyone comments that I'm the least trunky I could possibly be. Sister Walker has had a couple trunky comps so I made her tell me honestly and she said there isn't a trunky bone in my body haha. I'm still torn that I don't want to stop being a missionary and I do want to see my family of course. I don't know, I'm doing well though. I'm still mind blown that the next time I write you will be my last time..

That's really awesome that you are using less social media. Thats part of my technology plan, and you need to keep me to it when I'm home! My main focus is that I don't want to use it when I'm talking with others and spending time with the family. Plus I want to use social media for good like we have here and look for opportunities to bless and uplift. I also really want to delete old Instagram pictures because they are embarrassing, just thinking about it makes me shudder.

I think you're inspired with the sewing because I want to learn!! I want to move past my ghetto missionary sewing skills and learn how to actually make stuff! I especially want to hem my black floor length dress to go up to my knees so that would be a fun project. Teach meeee! :D

I hope you have a fabulous week Mom! Don't worry about me and keep yourself busy. Read your scriptures and pray every day, it will give you the strength that you need! I love you a million pretty dirndls!

Love, Sister Ingalls Jr.
