The Leimers, a Boat Tour and American Food (Jul 2)

Hey Mom!
I sadly don’t know who that elder is, there are a lot of missionaries in our mission and I tend to know more of the sisters :) Buuuuuuut he served in the coolest mission ever so props to him 😎 tell the elders to go knock the apartments between our house and Cub foods! [Elder Wright, a missionary in our ward has a brother that served in the Berlin Germany mission also and he just came home this December! MOM]

I DIED when you sent me the story about Nash that’s hilarious😂 never a dull moment with you.
[Short version of the Nash story, from my FB post: Yesterday, the kitty was smelling the baby’s poop that exploded out of his diaper into his bouncer seat (and all over him) then turned around and started heaving. Next thing you know, she’s barfing on the baby’s blanket and the carpet. Now I have a really poopy naked baby, a sickly cat, poop everywhere and barf on the carpet. So yesterday was like a party, but without all the fun!P.S. I thought animals liked gross smells? --Story from MOM]

Maybe I forgot to mention it, but Sister Baldock and Sister Nieminen had a Turkish temple trip last weekend so I went to be comps with Sister Hansen in Groitzsch. Oh man it was so fun. That’s why we were together in those pictures.

Sister Baldock is like my favorite person in the world! I love her! We just really get each other, and we are each other’s rocks. She is such a blessing. She’s from England and we were actually in the MTC at the same time for about a week or two! I love her.

About the garments thing. Some experiences I’ve had on my mission have lead me to think absolutely not. I get when I’m swimming or whatever, but my goal is to wear them as much as possible and especially to put them on right after. I don’t really know about the whole physical protection, I don’t really believe that, but the spiritual protection is a real thing.

Last week I week on exchanges with Sister Barker our STLT and it was so good. I love her! That was the day before my Arabic test and squiggly lines were just floating through my head. I was really drained, and exhausted but Heavenly Father blesses me with a good amount of reserve energy. We got there, and Sister Barker saw right through my bags and saw how exhausted I was. She told me I needed to take a nap. A NAP! I was shocked, I would never, never do that on a non pday. But she’s like, “You aren’t even functional your eyes are crossed, lay down for 20 minutes”. Haha I fought her a bit and laid down. I think it’s so funny now because it was just like when you made me lay down as a kid. It was good though and relieved the pressure behind my eyes. Haha yeah I realize I need to take breaks in the day, I was so drained. It was good and I made a goal to sit on a bench for 5 minutes 3x a day! 😂

Random thoughts:
-I’m currently making Arabic plan of Salvation cards! It’s really fun and I love this language!
-Thank you for teaching me how to fold towels.. nobody knows how to fold a towel correctly to make it look nice. Smh
Yesterday was the big day of meeting President Leimer! It was amazing. Every small fear or worry I had about the change left immediately as I walked into their home. They are the kindest people I think I’ve ever met. Sister Leimer greeted us at the door, in an apron, with a hug and a huge smile. She looked at me and said "Hey, I remember you!!" It was so sweet.

She prepared an AMERICAN dinner!! It was white bean chili, CORNBREAD, fruit and lemonade. It was SO good. Oh my gosh the cornbread was the best I’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot compared to Cub cornbread. Oh man.

We ended up being there for 3 hours! They introduced themselves and gave such good advice and answered questions and just really made us feel comfortable. I had such a spiritual experience there. He answered questions I’d fasted about that day. I really felt the spirit tell me that they were called by a prophet of God. I’m seriously overjoyed that they are here to keep the work going. I’ll miss president Fingerle, but this will be an exciting new time. I love them so much!

What I do know about him according to the questions you asked: He’s German but his wife is American. He learned about the church in America and speaks flawless English. They have a pretty big family, probably 5 to 6 children and a couple are married. They are about in their 50’s :) just such wonderful nice people, I can’t say anything but wonderful things.

I’m so happy right now! We had a wonderful pday. We did district pday and did a BOAT TOUR!! It was awesome. It was right in the center of Berlin and I learned a ton of cool things about the city. Apparently, our water ways are bigger and used more than in Venice 😏 we did that and then got some ice cream and are writing emails on the river bank. It’s gorgeous and my feet are dangling over the side AND EW I JUST GOT POOPED ON BY SOMETHING. Ok that was gross but it’s all good Sister Lay had hand sanitizer lol.

Life is good. I love and miss you a million boat tours through Berlin!
Have a happy, happy week! I think I’ll still send a small voice recording today!
